iLASIK™ Vision Correction Surgery — Ridgewood, Bergen County, Northern New Jersey

At Norden Laser Eye, we provide the most sophisticated vision correction solutions to help individuals see the world more clearly. Foremost among these procedures is iLASIK™ laser vision correction surgery. Dr. Richard Norden's Ridgewood, Bergen County practice in Northern New Jersey is distinguished as one of the first in the area to offer this advanced procedure. As one of the most promising developments in eye care technology, iLASIK™ is trusted by both NASA and military personnel. Now, patients who wish to achieve clearer, sharper vision can experience the benefits of this breakthrough treatment as well.

Introducing Advanced iLASIK™ Surgery for Superior Vision

iLASIK™ is an innovative vision correction surgery procedure offered at our Northern New Jersey practice in Ridgewood, Bergen County that combines the benefits of IntraLASIK and Custom LASIK in one efficient procedure for optimal vision enhancement. In fact, it has been reported that many iLASIK™ patients have achieved 20/20 vision or better.

This all-laser procedure uses WaveScan® technology, which is used to create a unique, detailed map of the eye, and combines it with Advanced CustomVue™ for a truly customized LASIK experience. Unlike traditional LASIK surgery in which a microkeratome is used to create the corneal flap, iLASIK™ uses the IntraLase® laser for a completely blade-free procedure. Because of the accuracy and exceptional precision of the technology used in the procedure, iLASIK™ produces consistently outstanding results with few potential complications.

The Vision Correction Surgery Procedure Trusted by NASA and the Military

Because the iLASIK™ procedure delivers incredibly safe and effective results, both NASA and the U.S. Military have cleared its use to enhance the vision of their most elite personnel, including astronauts, Naval aviators, and Air Force pilots. Previously, refractive surgery was not approved for astronauts and military pilots. But the decision to approve its use was made after the Department of Defense reviewed extensive clinical data that validated the use of both IntraLASIK and Custom LASIK together for vision excellence. Among the clinical trials, the Department of Defense found:

It is no wonder why the Department of Defense trusts iLASIK™ for the sharpest vision possible. Now you can experience the benefits of this revolutionary procedure for yourself. Good candidates are adults who are in good general health, have maintained a stable eye prescription for at least one year, and do not have any existing eye infections or diseases. In addition, candidates should have a thorough understanding of the iLASIK™ procedure as well as its benefits and risks to ensure the most successful surgical results.

The iLASIK™ Procedure

Before the iLASIK™ procedure, a three dimensional map of the eye is created using the WaveScan® system. This map gives Dr. Norden an exclusive look at the unique imperfections of the eye. This digital information is then transferred to the laser which alters the shape of the cornea accordingly.

Next, the advanced IntraLase® laser is used to create a corneal flap. This innovative, accurate, and blade-free approach virtually eliminates the already-minimal chance of complications occurring during the procedure.

During the second part of the iLASIK™ procedure, a computer-guided excimer laser is used to perform a more precise correction that is customized to the unique vision needs of the patient. Click here to view the iLASIK™ procedure video.
